Help & guides
A quick run-through of the basics, plus a closer look at each main feature.
Getting started
Go to Media Library and add each SD card, CFexpress card, or drive you own. Use "Add Multiple" if you've got a batch of identical cards to add at once.
Order printed QR labels for your cards from the QR Labels page, or download a QR image for each card from Media Library. This lets you use Scan to check cards in and out later instead of typing IDs by hand.
Add the project's dates, client details, and any devices you're tracking separately (Camera A, Camera B, Audio Recorder...).
Assign cards to the project, either manually from the project page or by scanning them if you've got labels on them.
Once footage is offloaded and backed up, release the cards back to Available so they're ready for the next job.
Feature guides
Click "+ Add Media", pick a type and capacity, and give it an ID (or let DITLOG generate one for you). Toggle "Storage drive" for edit/backup/archive drives so they show up in the drive pickers on projects.
Use "Add Multiple" when you've got a batch of identical cards. It creates them all in one go with sequential IDs, so you don't have to add each one by hand.
Open a card's QR modal to download a scannable image, or head to QR Labels to order printed ones for your whole kit.
Delete it from the card's menu. There's no separate "retire" step. If a card is done for good, delete it.
Add its name, dates, and client details. Everything else, devices, required cards, crew, and assigning media, gets added afterward from the project's own page, each with its own quick editor.
Add the devices you're tracking (Camera A, Camera B, Audio Recorder) and, optionally, how many cards of a given type each one needs. Planning uses this to tell you whether you've got enough media ready before the shoot.
Either pick cards manually from the project page, or use Scan to check them in with your phone's camera.
Status tracks where a project is in your pipeline (Upcoming, In Prep, and so on) and you manage that yourself under Status. "Needs media" is separate: it controls whether Planning checks this project's requirements at all, so you can stop tracking a project's media needs without changing its status.
When you move a project to your last pipeline status, DITLOG offers to archive it. Archiving releases any cards still assigned, hides the project from your main list, and turns it read-only. It's not deletion: you can still open it any time via "Show archived" on the Projects page, and it no longer counts toward your plan's project limit.
A rundown of every project that still needs media, with a Sufficient or Short badge for each requirement based on what you've currently got available.
Point your phone's camera at a card's QR label to assign or release it without typing anything. Needs printed or on-screen labels first, from Media Library or QR Labels.
Every time a card is released from a project, what was on it gets logged permanently, even after the card is wiped and reused. Add a note before releasing so you and your editor both know what a card held.
On each project's own page, or across every project (including archived and deleted ones) on the History page.
Frequently asked questions
You can subscribe from the Account page at any point during or after your 10-day trial to keep using DITLOG. If your trial ends before you subscribe, your data stays safe. You just won't be able to make changes until you upgrade.
Not currently. Every page needs a live connection to load and save your data, so it's best used somewhere with at least a basic signal or WiFi.
No. Every account's data is fully isolated, so nobody else can see your projects, media, or account details.
Use the "Forgot password?" link on the login page to get a reset link sent to your email.
No. Card history and archive logs live on their own, separate from the project, so they stick around even after a project is deleted.
